Young Children and ADHD - Straight Talk and Strategies
Registration form or register online
Presenter: Chris Ziegler-Dendy
Registration - 8:30 am - 8:55 am, Workshop - 9:00 am - 3:00 pm  Description: ADHD and executive function deficits have a profound impact on language development, learning and behavior. This session provides an overview of research and description of the impact on preschoolers. The brains of children with ADHD mature at a rate that is three years slower than their peers. This delayed maturation has a profound impact on a preschoolers' language skills, ability to pay attention, impulsivity, ability to follow directions, and play well with peers.  Bad parenting does not cause these problems. However, teaching positive parenting practices is beneficial and will help parents cope better with these challenging ADHD behaviors. Specific strategies for working with these children will be reviewed.
