Family Literacy

The Adult Learning Resource Center (ALRC) provides family education training, consultations, and workshops as they relate to needs assessments, program development, curriculum and materials, teaching and methodologies, parent-child activities, and program evaluation.

Regional Provider Interest Group

The Family Literacy Provider Group Meeting provides the forum for administrators and staff working in family literacy to get together periodically. Those who attend have the opportunity to share their experiences and questions, explore new ideas, distribute and/or get information (state and national), and discuss new trends in research, program development, materials, etc.

The Provider Group is for all family literacy programs whether funded by the Illinois Community College Board, the Secretary of State, the Illinois State Board of Education (Even Start) or private foundations. The provider group meetings are designed for both experienced family literacy staff and those who "just started on Monday." In addition, attendees are administrators, adult educators, child educators, parent educators, librarians, and home visitors (to name a few)!

Find Even Start performance indicators, forms for data collection, technical manual, discussion e-list, and other related materials at the Family Literacy Assessment for Illinois Results (FLAIR) page.

This initiative provides support and professional development to Even Start projects in the performance indicators, the related data collection forms and F.L.A.I.R.
